What if men spoke women's words and women men's? What would be different? What would be the same? How would it challenge our presumptions and preconceptions?
'IT’S NOT ME, IT’S YOU.' is a film series that uses the displacement of contemporary conversations as a way of exploring the differences and similarities between people. In the first two films, 'Pre-Trained.' and 'Lucky Woman.' men are speaking women’s words. Both films were commissioned by the UK’s Channel 4 network, and Pre-Trained was broadcast as part of the Random Acts season.
This project is in development. The subjects of these films revolve around the skirmish line where men and women, the masculine and the feminine have to find some common ground or where they collide, melt or repel. Perhaps you're on this skirmish line now? If you like the films and feel tempted to add your conversation, then I would love to hear from you. I can explain in a little more detail how this simple process works and answer any questions you may have.
